I found no concrete correctness, security, race, or regression issues in this PR.

The change makes timing use the same non-blocking emit path as the other metric methods, preserving metric construction while changing full-channel behavior from blocking to returning the existing transport channel is full error.

Tests not run: the read-only sandbox prevented Cargo/rustup from creating temp files.
